I think the reason why they hate Kokichi after trial 4 is because Kokichi helped largely in Gonta's mercy-kill idea and the murder of Miu. Kokichi was overwhelmed by the guilt of both Miu and Gonta's death to the point it drives him to his own death in ch5.
