Dt466 10k mod. I'm starting a repower project with my '86 F250.

Dt466 10k mod. Is it possible? my truck is the 175hp version and I would like to have more power. LUK SMFW. What should I be looking at to replace it? Pre-2007 or pre-2013? Is $10k a reasonable price for complete overhaul? Is 300k miles a short life for this engine? Bought it thinking it would last forever with how much we use it. Maybe disconnect the wastegate?
